Summary: “IS-kulPture”is an interdisciplinary and
collaborative project for the preservation of European Contemporary
Outdoor Sculpture in which 14 organisations (museums, sculpture parks,
municipalities, universities, research institutes) of multidisciplinary
fields coming from all corners of Europe (13 countries) and the U.S.A.,
will join their forces towards a
challenging common goal: the development of a more “sustainable
future” for this unique and vulnerable European legacy. The
project cornerstones are: multidisciplinarity, open and free access to
information, knowledge exchange and global and mutual research.
Project aims are: 1.To encourage and support the development of a
“sustainable future” for Contemporary Outdoor Sculpture
through the application of good practices and enhancement of public
appreciation.
2.To gain scientific knowledge about sculpture constitutive materials,
deterioration mechanisms, rate of decay, environment impact and the
effects of climate change through mutual scientific research.
3.To enhance interdisciplinary and intercultural dialog, scientific
knowledge exchange, and collaboration in the long term amongst
professionals and organisations involved in
and committed to the field of Contemporary Outdoor Sculpture.
4.To identify common concerns and priorities to set the basis of a future mutual research agenda.
The project foresees the establishment of various interdisciplinary
Working Groups that will share, contribute, cooperate and interact to
attain project’s goal. The project's deliverables include: a good
practice guide, an international symposium, project web, professional
meetings (WGs), public open discussions and round-tables, an
international network contact database, a European contemporary
sculpture database, 4 newsletters, and a project final publication.
For the continuation of the project (20012-14) it is envisaged to carry
out specific actions aimed at enhancing audience and institutions
engagement and at increasing public’s appreciation of
contemporary sculpture.
This project should be considered as being integral part of a more
extensive action plan. It is a small contribution to a European global
cultural strategy whose challenging last purpose is to engage, educate
public and improve the quality of life of those affected by poverty and
social exclusion.
Dit project wordt aangevangen juli 2010, indien financiering van de EU is goedgekeurd.
